I am in the process of reading a book called,
Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers. So for obvious reasons, it's gotten me thinking about death, my own in particular, and funerals. I have so many questions about funerals! For instance: is a funeral a requirement? By law? What's legal and what's not when it comes to death? I've been doing a little research, and have found that a funeral can cost around $10,000! FUCK! I am way too thrifty for that shit! In all seriousness, if possible, I want my body to be donated to science. I'm pretty sure that's close to free. If that's not possible, I at least want to be cremated, because that cuts costs. I read that a casket is not required by law when cremation takes place, and also, embalming is not required if there is no viewing before-hand. As far as the funeral itself, I believe that takes place more for the living than the dead, so I don't think I'd want one. At least, not in the traditional sense. Anyway, I apologize if this seems morbid, but I've thought about this a lot over many years. It should probably spur me into getting a will drawn up or something.
