Ceiling paint is usually thinner and doesn't cover as well, unless you are painting over with the same color. Did you prime the ceiling first to kill the color? Most times you need to paint white ceilings twice in order to get a uniform finish. I have yet to find a ceiling paint that does the job the first time.

ha ha, only when the ceiling is painted the same color as the wall.
