Wells Fargo Rant
When we closed on our new house, we were given the option of setting our first mortgage payment for August 1st instead of July 1st. We have signed closing papers stating August 1st as our first automatic withdrawal. Simple as that. Around mid-June I received a document in the mail stating the automatic payment was all set up, and the first withdrawal would be made on July 1st. Um, HELLO. No. So I called customer service, told them the issue. They changed it to August 1st, and I got a confirmation letter in the mail. Problem fixed. Last week, as I was browsing my bank statement online, something didn't look right. The mortgage payment was taken out on July 3, causing funds to be drawn from our line of credit (which we luckily have), resulting in overdraft fee charges to our account! WTF!!! Who is the fucking idiot who isn't doing their fucking job??? I was PISSED, let me tell you. SEETHING. So I called customer service. They had to transfer me to the mortgage department. Got disconnected. Tried calling back, couldn't get through. Finally got through all the touch-tone options. Got disconnected. And again. Finally, about an hour later, I was connected with a real live person. I told her my problem, told her I was pissed. Then she says to me, "So what do you want us to do for you?" Are you INSANE??? In the words of Ben Folds, "Give me my money back, you Bitch!" I told her I wanted her to put back the mortgage payment and get the charges taken off my account. She said they'd credit the money back to my account within 8 days, but they can't do anything about the overdraft fees until I get my bank statement showing the charges, and fax it to them. But she couldn't find the fax number. So someone was supposed to call me back with that. Never happened. And I'm still waiting for that credit. WHO ARE THESE INCOMPETENT ASSHOLES???

I got fucked over by Wells Fargo one time too. They did the financing when I got the futon at Slumberland. After I moved here, they were still sending the bill to mom's despite an adress change request being sent in. So there was like $80 or so in fees and late charges and shit, which was like double what I owed on the damn thing. I called them up and told them they were stupid and what they had done wrong and why it wasn't my fault. They waved all of the fees and everything. I did get redirected a few times though. I called one number and they told me that I needed to call another number and blah blah blah.
Needles to say, they can be stupid...and they WILL pay.
But I don't know. August and July do sound and look very similar. So I can see how the mistake could've been made.

I am posting an update with links to other peoples blogs who got hosed by WF, and probably other banks too, but for now WF and am linking yours. I urge you to read my entry though, and pass the information along, their misleading practices and slight of hand with people's money amounts to a Ponzi Scheme, I am pissed, and I am doing something about it. The bastard that I talked to had the nerve to refer to us as "check kiters", not thinking that perhaps we may be JEWISH, while we are not I am not above claiming to be to affect the necessary outrage to retrieve our money (they are holding it hostage, and dangling the possibility of returning some fees next week). Here's another heartwarming holiday story for you. I work in Albuquerque, NM (yes, the so-called "Land of Enchantment", but that's another story) and I was working in the "far heights" late this Friday evening, December 22, 2006, on an interior design project. With 15 minutes to spare in order to deposit checks totalling around $20,000 needed to cover business expenses and holiday purchases, I covered the distance to my nearest Wells Fargo branch at the corner of Juan Tabo and Montgomery Boulevards in just over ten minutes time on icy streets (no, I wasn't going over the speed limit, there was too much holiday traffic), only to be stopped at a long red light at the adjacent intersection to the branch. Finally, I rolled up and parked in front of the front door right as a bank employee wearing slacks and a white or light dress shirt, dark curly hair, about average height (I hope this is enough of a description to get his chicken-shit candy-ass fired, but suppose that would be expecting too much from a corporation that clearly does not give a rat's ass about its customers) strolled up and locked the door while watching me wave. As he turned and strolled away without any acknowledgement, I checked my T-Mobile auto-updated cellular phone and saw that it was 5:58 pm, presumably two minutes before official closing time. Thanks for caring! Here's wishing for a lovely Wells Fargo bankruptcy in the coming year, you flaming assholes...
