I had Friday off as my last unpaid day for the
quarter. Work is back to normal hours now, which is a relief. Did I feel guilty about taking the day when work was completely swamped when I left on Thursday? No. Not really. Jer and I spent part of the day going to a few occasional shops. The shops are only open once a month. Gypsy Lea's in Sauk Rapids has a lot of antique/vintage furniture that has been re-purposed. Some really neat stuff. Anne's is similar but has a lot of stuff other than furniture. I didn't find too much while shopping except a set of owls for $6. While paying the cashier, I noticed I was missing some money. I realized I must have been short-changed the day before at a convenience store, by $15! Kind of bummed me out. So I decided to call the store, even though I didn't think much would come of it. The manager was very nice, and told me she would take care of it. So I drove to the store and got my $15 back! I was glad I called. After that I drove around to several antique stores, and bought a small table for the living room. It was priced at $35, and I got it for $28. All I had to do was ask. I'm in the process of refinishing the table, so I will post pictures of before and after when I get it done.On Saturday, Jer and I left Ivy overnight at Mom's and we went to see Fiddler on the Roof at the Paramount. It was really very good. We both loved it. The music is great, and the main character is so funny, and the cast did amazing.
On Sunday, after I picked Ivy up, we bundled up to play outside. It's been warm out, which is awesome. Unfortunately, the snow was too powdery so we didn't get to build a snowman, and Ivy tried and tried, but just couldn't make a snowball. So I took her for a sled ride. The trail was nice and packed down in the field out back because of the snowmobiles, so it was perfect. We did a loop, and that was enough exercise for me!
Today being a holiday, work was closed, so yay, another day off! I had lots of places to go today, so I kept busy. Started off my day with a physical... Fun! Not! My new doctor is very nice, and she did a good job (too much info?). Anyway, she thought she felt something, but wasn't sure, so she ordered a pelvic ultrasound for me. Later on, I walked back into the clinic ready to vomit from the amount of water I had just gulped down. The nurse took some outside shots, then decided I hadn't allowed enough time for the water to go to my bladder, so she needed to do some "inside" shots as well. Let me tell you... that camera was bigger than the tampon size they mentioned in the brochure. UNCOMFORTABLE. (again... too much info. whatev.) So I should find out something in a few days. I'm not worried.
The rest of my day was spent at Walmart, Target, Savers, Joann Fabric, Goodwill, and of course... Caribou. At Savers I found some vintage (?) barrettes. You know, the cute little plastic ones we wore when we were kids? I don't think they make them like that anymore, but I could be wrong. Anyway, I got a bagful for $1.49. I thought Ivy could have some fun with them. Then I thought about that show on Discovery Health about hoarders. And I wondered if I'm turning into one of those. Do I really need a bag of barrettes? I think it's totally a nostalgia thing. Whatever, I bought them anyway. Then I bought a bunch more stuff at Goodwill, a few things of
which I'm probably returning because I really don't need. But I did find an awesome Sailor Moon lunchbox for $1.99! Again with the nostalgia. I also found some really cool framed pictures. When I got home, I decided to paint the frames along with the table I was already working on, so photos of all that to come.So that was my weekend. I also did other things like read and watch TV. I'm currently reading The Lovely Bones, and I just started the last season of Star Trek (finally!). I'm also two discs into Arrested Development.

It doesn't look like they are, but it would be awesome if those owls were like the Russian doll things that fit inside of each other.
