kitchen fixes

Ok, so last week at Savers, I brought home a cute little saucer dish for a quarter, and I just love the pattern. This week I saw plates to match at Goodwill, but the pattern was pretty faded, so I passed them up. Today, I found the whole freaking set at a garage sale!!! It was marked $15 and I offered her $10 and the deal was sealed. I just love the dainty little flower pattern, and the fabulous blue color of the cups. Most are in pretty good shape, a few nicks here and there, and the dinner plates kinda scratched more than the rest.

So I guess the plates are part of my kitchen-sort of-redo. I'm planning to paint the walls orange, and I think I've finally picked the right color. I've also found some new cabinet handles I really like. I shopped around everywhere, and returned items to Menards three different times before I found what I wanted. And then I still returned them, because I found them cheaper online. They were $3.99 each, and with 29 handles, that's getting pretty spendy for a cheap cabinet fix. Mind you, it's still way cheaper than replacing the cabinets, which would be nice because they are damn ugly. But anyway, I found the handles for $2.63 each online. So about $76 for that little project. And that's not including the hinges, which I'm not sure I'll need to do. I don't really notice them. We'll see. So here is how it looks...

I love that you search around online to find out what things are going for full price.
