heebie-jeebies

It was about a week or so ago that we found a snake skin in our backyard right by Ivy's sandbox. Yesterday, I went out to get some toys out of the pool, when I saw something move in the grass on the other side. I assumed it was probably the pesky chipmunk that had made a home underneath our porch. And then it slithered. Have I mentioned yet that I was barefoot and less than two feet away... from a SNAKE! Ugh, gross *shudder*! It quickly slithered underneath the porch, using what I had thought was the chipmunk hole. So I went back inside. Jer went out to inspect and prepare the weaponry. A short while later I went cautiously back outside and spotted it below the water hose. I yelled for Jer, and he came out, chased it down, and beheaded the damn thing with the garden hoe. Meanwhile, I'm freaking out like a little girl. Only afterward did I realize the neighbors were sitting right there in their driveway, probably wondering what the hell is going on. And later still did I realize, we probably won't be seeing that chipmunk again. Awesome.

I thought for a second as I was reading this that you were gonna say Jer "beheaded the damn thing with his bare hands". Just my imagination though.

Probably just a garter snake - they are by far the most common snakes in the area and there are not any dangerous snakes this far north. Garter Snakes are great! They eat all larger bugs, small rodents, and birds, if they can catch them. Its natures own pest control. They are Very Cool Animals. -Carrie

They are even cooler with a tiny piece of skin holding their heads on and bloody. Although they make the trash can have an awful odor.

I did think about picking it up biting its head off and drinking its blood. But it was very disgusting and all I wanted to do is to be a man and protect my family from the very dangerous garter snake

As I said, it already took care of the rodent. Therefore, I had no further use for it.
