update update update

Ok, so long time, no real post. I'm telling you, that little girl keeps me busy, and she isn't even crawling yet! So I just wanted to update on what is going on in my world, especially since I have a moment to myself. I took the morning off for a doctor appointment this afternoon, and Ivy's already over at daycare. So I'm headed to the doc because I'm having an issue, but it's much too embarrassing to tell you what it is. Let's just say I'm kinda freaked out. Anyway, moving on... Breastfeeding is going well, and I'm so glad I'm able to do it! The only issue right now is the allergy/eczema. I've eliminated dairy and eggs from my diet (which sucks, trust me) and Ivy is clearing up pretty well. It's mostly noticeable in her face, where she's not red and chapped anymore, or rashy around her neck. I did have a blood test done on her, which came back negative, but I guess these things aren't always accurate. So we will be seeing an allergy specialist next week, just so I can get some good info. But I wouldn't give up breastfeeding now, not even for this. Not even for chocolate! I just can't describe how it makes me feel when Ivy is nursing, then looks up into my face with those eyes, and milk dribbling down her chin. It just melts my heart. It's really that special. If you don't have a kid, I recommend going out and getting yourself one right now! Imagine me, loving kids. I used to hate them, but it's so different now. Sorry to sound all corny and everything, but I love being a mom. Absolutely love it. I even subbed for the daycare lady the other day, and found myself thinking: I could run a daycare. But I just couldn't give up my space that easily. The kids were great though. So other than that, Ivy is doing great. She's just getting over her first cold (yuck!) and thrush (again). No teeth yet, but I still say, any day now! We've started her on cereal, and she still doesn't seem to like it much, but it's going a little better. She's growing fast. She's around 16 pounds now. I've been out garage sale-ing like mad, and have found her some really cute outfits. She comes with me most days, and it's a lot of fun. Everybody loves her.

As for this summer, we want to try to get a few house projects done, but I'm not sure how far we'll get. For one thing, funds are limited, and for another, we're not really project people. Since we're not project people, we're paying other people for the work, which is why the funds will be draining very quickly. We are getting new carpet in our basement for the sole purpose of getting rid of the ugly tile in the corner. Why would anyone put ugly tile instead of nice plush carpet? Your guess is as good as mine. We want it gone for when Ivy starts moving around. I would hate to see her fall on that and hurt herself. So to get rid of that small tiled area, the entire basement needs to be redone. And it isn't cheap. So I guess the gutters will have to be done next year. We also need some landscaping done (double-yuck). Did I mention I hate the sun? Yeah. And we also need to get the deck and porch stained and sealed. Ugh. I really hate projects. I'd rather keep decorating Ivy's room, which is already going very nicely. I hope Ivy like pink.
