new cam

Well, yesterday after some research, Jer and I went and bought a new camera, a Kodak EasyShare Z710. I really wanted something that will take good quality indoor pics [of Ivy]. But after trying it out today, I'm sort of disappointed with what I got. The flash just seems way too bright. But without the flash, the pics just come out blurry. The shutter speed is decent. I can actually catch her while she's smiling. But I just don't think the quality is there. I have no doubt that it will take excellent outdoor pics. It did get good reviews. But I don't want to have to go outside with her just to get good pics! So does anyone have any suggestions? Please? My other choice was the Canon Powershot something. I don't know what to do.

I like the canon Powershot cameral series- Me and Julie got my Dad the most recent powershot for Christmas, I don't remember the model number, but you should ask him how the indoor pictures look. Mine takes only so so indoor pics, but then again, its also 3 or 4 years old.

Ivy is so cute!

Hey there!! See if the camera you got is able to adjust the flash amount. Most Canon Powershots that I've played around with (and my way old Canon G5) let you adjust the amount of light the flash emits. Very helpful for trying to get good skin tones indoors....

If you're stuck with that one, the only thing I can think that would help is get a little portable tri-pod and use the timer so you don't have to use the flash. That will help with the blur, but you might lose smiles if you have to wait 5-10 seconds for the shutter to go off.

My old digital camera is a Kodak EasyShare and I was pretty satisfied with it. It didn't have the pop up flash though.

Sorry if that's no help!

Thanks for all the feedback guys!
Carrie- I don't ever talk to your dad, but maybe you or Julie could ask him sometime.
Chandra- I couldn't find anything in the manual about adjusting the flash, just the exposure, aperture, and shutter. But I don't know about that stuff.
Holly- We actually did buy a tripod, but I'm not sure that's the answer either.
I think I'm going to buy the Canon and try it out, then return one of them. Unfortunately, Best Buy has a 15% restocking fee. Stupid.

My family uses the Canon Elph not the Powershot.
