I have become a garage sale junkie. Wednesday is when all the sales appear in the local paper. So when I’m bored at work, I copy all the ads from the online classifieds into my own file, then I go through them and find out which ones I want to go to. I put them all neatly in order according to the city, then by the scheduled date. I bold the addresses so they’re easy to see. Then I might even take some time to locate the addresses on Yahoo Maps. Then on Thursday mornings, I might actually go to a few. Most of the time, I can’t get out of bed early enough, but then some days I feel ambitious. Yesterday was good. I went to maybe ten in the morning, and was able to cross them off my list. It sort of makes me feel accomplished in a way, as if my garage sale list is my to-do list. I purchased several things yesterday: a few more baby sleepers and toys, bottles, a couple of books, some fabric, a maternity shirt. But most importantly, I found a glider rocker! I have been losing sleep over finding the perfect rocking chair. JCPenney has several online, and I even have a free shipping coupon. But alas, the wood colors they have don’t match the crib. Target has quite a few online, but the one I want is out of stock, and anyway, they’re shipping prices are just a tad insane. So when I highlighted the words “glider rocker” within my garage sale list the other day, I knew I had to check that one out. So I found a glider for $15 bucks! (These things normally go for around $199 or more.) The wood color even matches the crib, and it’s in great condition. And if I don’t like the blue cushions, I should be able to re-cover them easily enough. I love garage sales.
*Update: Just got done garage-saling again this morning. I found yet another sweater. I think that's about the 6th sweater I've bought at garage sales this summer. Never pay more than $2, and they're always cute button-ups or hoodies. I'm definitely prepped for winter (so long as I lose the belly).

Very Cool- Julie's not going to have to plan a baby shower with all the stuff your getting. Was the glider as heavy as that crib?
Carrie
