the tough part of parenthood
Yesterday Ivy got sick. She started throwing up, and by the time I got home from work, was puking about every 10 minutes. She was obviously dehydrated. Couldn't keep anything down, and was pretty lethargic. Sunken eyes, no tears, no wet diapers. Puking stomach acid. Wouldn't even nurse. It was almost like last year when we had to take her to the hospital. Poor thing. So I ended up sleeping part of the night in the rocking chair, the other part on her bedroom floor. She did fine once we got to 2:30am, then she slept for a while and didn't throw up again until 7:30. She was feeling better this morning, even playing with toys. But still puking every once in a while. She's been sleeping now for a while, which should do her some good. It's tough watching her go through this. It's the worst thing about being a parent so far, is watching her be sick, or seeing her in pain. I would much rather it be me.
